Montreal, Quebec,Canada — Saturday, February 13th, 2021 — Gearing up for the release of his new album Dejazz Libretti has just released his first single off the album entitled “Space Girl”, with a catchy beat and smooth hook this track is bound to get you dancing and grooving nonstop like the funky bass line that accentuates the groove of the soulful beat.

Dejazz Libretti Born Shaqkeem Callum-Drummond is the Ceo of LoveLife recordz and has been a feature in the Underground Montreal Hip-hop community for more than a decade now. Born in the locality of Cote Des Neige a multicultural district in the Heart of Montreal Dejazz has been influenced by various cultures and musical styles that have shaped him into the artist he is today.

He sights Gospel,Soul,Rnb, and Reggae as some as his early musical influences as his parents use to blaze hits from artists such as Diana Ross,Al Green, and Aretha Franklin and Freddie Mcgregor. Dejazz Libretti took an early interest in music as he and his brothers use to form their own band often mirroring the likes of the Jackson 5 being in a similar situation as Shaqkeem is the fourth out of five brothers. During his adolescence years Shaqkeem took more interest in music and began to write raps which he’d freestyle to his peers back in high school.

This led him to frequenting community and recreational music studios and in 2010 he released,after creating a few mixtapes that’s he shared and distributed amongst some of his close friends and family his first album entitled No bad sound tape vol.2. In lieu of the album release Dejazz went on to do a string of shows in and outside of Montreal and its environs. In 2012 he started he own record label LoveLife Recordz and has continued to release a bevy of music and perform in a series of concerts.

As of now Dejazz Libretti has performed in over 80 shows,festivals and concerts and has released a total of 11 musical projects including(albums,eps,mixtapes,compilations)and has featured on over a dozen of tracks and has been interviewed on various radio shows and has released multiply music videos on channels such as youtube,tiktok,and instagram. In all he has accrued over 250,000 streams on various musical channels and his combined streams on various music platforms is well over 300,000 streams. Dejazz Libretti seeks to forge ahead and continue to release music that is enjoyable to all music lovers across the globe

Tell us about yourself and your music

I’m originally from Jamaica , but I grew up and currently reside in Cincinnati Ohio . I’m 24 but only have been doing music for about a solid year . I already have did songs with some big artist such as Doe Boy who is signed with (epic records /freebandz ) , Ripp Flamez, Cook Laflare , and more . My music is really for the streets , but I am very versatile so you never know what you will get . I might just switch it up and sing like I’m Drake you never know !

Talk to us more about your latest release

I just dropped my latest single racks ! This was a lot different from my past few songs I released because this is more of a club record ! I tried to go in a different direction and find that hook that gets stuck in your head ! This in my opinion is a hit and I won’t be told otherwise !

What inspired you to write this release?

It’s crazy , my manager Cashout turned on the beat in the studio one day . When I heard it I was just like “yeah that’s the one !” I got in the booth and instantly caught a vibe. I did the song in about five minutes . When he played the track back to me I instantly knew it was for the club and we both agreed on it.

Describe the writing and recording process

Actually , I don’t write . I have tried and it’s just not for me . I don’t that the patience. I believe it’s all about he vibe . If anything in the studio I’ll have my engineer plug me in . I tried to write once and it just doesn’t sound the same on paper as it does when you actually get in the studio . I believe it’s all about the vibe when you’re in the booth. Go with the flow !

Any plans to release a video?

Any plans to hit the road?

That’s crazy , my manager is putting together a tour right now as we speak for me . Dates and times tba!

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

Dare to be different is what I go by ! A lot of these artist want to be like the next . I believe in being yourself , that’s what makes you unique and stands you out from there rest. When I make music I don’t listen to anyones Opinion when it comes to releasing it. You never know who we relate to it or like it that’s the fun of it . All types of sounds , vibes , and lyrics makes you different . Someone will like it ! I have witnessed some odd music that in my opinion thought was trash but still sold and did numbers!

Who have you been listening to lately?

Roddy Ricch , Doe Boy, Lil Poppa, Da Baby, Rod Wave? NBA Youngboy , Meek, Moneybagg, Lil Baby, just to name a few .

Who are your biggest influences?

Doe Boy for real is my biggest inspiration. Just to watch him start from the bottom and get signed to epic records /freebandz is crazy ! I literally witnessed it all! I did my first song with him. When he got signed it motivated me to go harder !

Tell us about your passions

My passions are my music and kids . Without those I wouldn’t be who I am today. I also am into property . I own a lot of real estate and keep buying more . I encourage other artist to get into . Think long terms and not just for that “now moment “.

What else is happening next in your world?

Come on , hopefully the next interview ill be signed and will be discussing that . That’s the ultimate goal and it’s going to happen!
