Ric Cassell Keeps Things Smooth with His Easy Listening Style
Cool, Calm, and Collected Music for a Great Night Out
Carmel, Indiana – March 24, 2016 – When other kids were out getting scraped knees and tossing a ball around, Ric Cassell was getting his first taste of music when he picked the accordion at the age of nine. It sparked a fascination that went on to last a lifetime and throughout his career he’s played both in a band and on his own, and is looking to get back on the road with his skills this year.
Cassell started a number of bands until starting his own band, Paradox, back in the days when disco was the norm but come the late 70’s, he came into a solo deal with AMG Records. Never one to leave anyone behind, he actually teamed up with some of the guys of his former band to record his first wave of solo singles, including “Oh What a Feeling” and “You’re Always On My Mind.” They hit the airwaves and were a hit throughout the midwest and east coast. With that he spent a lot of time out on tour playing everywhere from nightclubs to hotels, perfect for his smooth jazz intertwined with easy listening sound.
His style can be heard on his latest, 2015’s Near to You. Ten tracks deep, this record is for fans who find themselves wanting more music in their realm that is like Phil Collins and The Eagles. Opening track “Let Me In” is a lively romp, while “Hold On to Me Tonight” showcases the heartfelt side of what he can do. With these songs in his holster, his live shows would offer variety and charm.
