Novelty indie rock act MONKEYSHORTS, an Independent Music Awards and International Songwriting Competition featured band, back at Seattle’s historic birthplace of grunge recording sophomore album. MONKEYSHORTS of Seattle U.S.A. are currently in London Bridge Studio (Pearl Jam, Ten) recording their second album at this historic recording studio. Their first record Day View Owl Bum contained the popular cover of Nine Inch Nails Closer, which gained attention as an Independent Music Awards finalist and International Songwriting Competition semi-finalist. MONKEYSHORTS follow-up record Earwormholes is more commercial and more rock ‘n’ roll in feel than Day View Owl Bum by design.
Producer/songwriter Mick Garrett has teamed up with producer/guitarist Justin Davis (Queensrÿche, Candlebox) and producer/multi-instrumentalist DJ Stephen Hogan (OneRepublic, Blake Lewis) to continue the MONKEYSHORTS legacy of whacky tunes. In that spirit, Earwormholes will feature the first ever rap re-working of a Beatles song. Earwormholes also will draw from the rich field of talent in the land of Seattle including session work from noted players with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Heart. The full roster of names will be published when the record comes out. Earwormholes to be released at a yet to be determined date in 2015.
Featured song “Download”—a MONKEYSHORTS original—is about the dangers of illegal file-sharing. The video for “Download” was directed by the band’s lead singer King Masaabuu and will be released with Earwormholes. In the meanwhile, Closer and the rest of the MONKEYSHORTS catalog can be heard at monkeyshorts.com.
