New Alternative Album Out Now
Saint Albans, Vermont – June 11, 2020 – While it’s great to turn on a pop record and get what you expected, it’s a whole other world when the press of play sends you into the unknown. Caleb Barrett’s ‘Grow Down’ is just that, a record that continues to toss new styles and sounds until the very end.
There are baker’s dozen worth of tracks to be found on ‘Grow Down,’ and each one is as unique as the last. “Come Back” opens the record with a rap meets rock union that is reminiscent of what the animated band Gorillaz brought in the early ‘00s. Then just two doors down “Waited So Long” delivers a more adult contemporary feel with rock riffs holding it together at the seams. It’s clear Caleb Barrett doesn’t like to sit in a box and loves to explore every aspect of who he is as an artist whether it be a psychedelic rocker or an acoustic gem as heard in songs like “Last Chance.” The variety displayed throughout this record makes it like a continuous buffet of sound that you’ll want to return to time and time again.
Caleb Barrett was only nine-years-old when he started to take an interest in music. By 12 he got his hands on a guitar for the first time. Eventually, he managed to teach himself how to play not only the drums but bass, piano, and a handful of other instruments. It’s been a good decade since he started playing, but only four or so since he started penning lyrics to go along with his jam sessions. Now it’s all come together on his 2020 debut, ‘Grow Down.’
