Yalepo and the Caribbean Rock Party

This idea originated in 1995. It's about mixing Rock music with a flavor of Caribbean music. It's danceable, instrumental with vocals, and it Rocks! Yalepo is the Artist name of Richard Langendijk and The Caribbean Rock Party are the Caribbean beats mixed/blended with Rock music. After 7 years of trying to find the right musicians, he finally could start with the rehearsals of his songs and musical ideas. The hardest part was to find the right drum player because there are Rock drum players and those people are not into Caribbean beats and Caribbean drum players, most of them are not into Rock music.

In 2002 I met Jacob Jacobs who was the first and only drum player I found in the Amsterdam underground music scene who was willing to try to play my idea of mixing the Rock and the Caribbean beats. In January of 2003, Pepper Louis Heijmans agreed to give it a try as well but he got an offer to play with the John Haze Project (Mothers Finest guitar player). So I find myself trying to find the right bass player. He was quickly found and in May 2003 we started the recordings at the Easter Hill Studio with Henk Schutten on bass. Clay Windham engineered the recording of the Album.

The recording and mixing of the songs

I decided to ask Gus Genser to co-produce the album. We left 4 songs as they were and we remixed the other six songs. Gus played on drums on the Track Caribbean Indian man and additional percussion on other tracks.  He wrote the Caribbean English and the papiamento lyrics on the . Pepper Louis Heijmans re-recorded the Bass guitar on the track Caribbean Indian man.
