“Spreading gospel lyrics over jazz and hip hop tracks” is how ‘The Lyricist” Jay Frazier best describes his style of gospel rap.  From fighting on the battlefield for our country in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, to fighting on the spiritual battlefield for our Lord and Saviour, The Lyricist has seen and experienced it all. His lyrical content not only shares his story, and experiences as an American soldier, but also ministers to God’s people by using an array of scriptural references and rightly dividing the Word of truth. Many have described his style of gospel rap as bridging generational gaps; it is not surprising to see a grandparent singing along with their grandchild, while being ministered to at the same time. From “Live My Life for Christ” an autobiographical song about his life, to “Armor Up” a battle call for God’s people to keep on the whole armor of God as instructed in Ephesians 6, the Lyricist offers something for everyone to enjoy.

 In his personal life, the Lyricist has been a devoted servant of God, father, and businessman…and at times a man of few words. He has been known to say, “If you want to know more about me, listen to my music.”  Well with gospel mixtape, and debut album in the works, thank God there’s no shortage of content to move, inspire, and minister to our spirits.
