The Stephen Boys

About

The Stephen Boys are Andrew and Craig Stephen. We have recorded 4 CD's and would describe our music as a mixture of country, folk and pop. Andrew has written most of the songs and plays keyboards and banjo as well as providing lead and backing vocals. Craig plays guitar and also provides lead and backing vocals. We performed many gigs in the noughties, the stand out one being at the 12 Bar club in Denmark Street where we showcased songs from our first 2 CD's to a very appreciative and enthusiastic audience. We also had songs from the first 2 CD's featured on London Country Radio which was popular at the time, and subsequently gave an interview on Drystone radio after 2 songs from our fourth CD (Ya Got Yerself In Trouble Peggy-Mae) were featured.
Craig spent some time in France as part of a study module at Montpelier University in the late 90's and often performed at the popular Irish bar, Fitzpatricks of Montpellier, as well as featuring in the backstage gig at the conclusion of a local festival with main acts Joan Baez, Billy Joe Shaver and Maxime Le Forestier (after working the 3 day event as security) in June of 97. In July 1999 Craig was invited to a local radio station in Montpelier for an interview where the focus was on the first album (Where We Came In) which had been brought to the station's attention through word of mouth from patrons at Fitzpatricks.
In 2004/5 The Stephen Boys and friends organized a weekly open mic night at the Mitre pub in Paddington, where London talent could be showcased as well as performing gigs at the Ascot Hotel, Paddington and a regular Friday night spot at the Colin Campbell in Kilburn from 2006 to 2009.
We have not been gigging much recently mainly due to work and family commitments but are now working on new projects and hope to have another CD out in the not too distant future.
