Tanyah Cotton, began playing the piano at age 4  and classical violin at age 10. Professionally, she  has worn many hats — singer/songwriter,  composer, keyboard player, vocalist, arranger,  event promoter, booking agent and producer. She  has worked with many noted entertainers  including Patrice Rushen, The Whispers,  Babatunde Olatunji,  the Marleys, The Mighty  Diamonds, Linton Kwesi Johnson, Soul Syndicate,  Eek-A-Mouse, Yellow Man and Toots and the  Maytals and in 1993, along with Gloria Jackson, formed Nubii (new-b-eye). Tanyah's first contract was as a composer with Capital Records in the late 70's working with the Brides of Frankenstein. She went on to composed music for commercials, film, video games and radio, most recently singing and playing percussion with Gaye Adegbalola & The Wild Rύtz. Born and raised in San Francisco, her work has been in the genres of Reggae, Funk, Jazz, African, Latin, R&B, Blues and Caribbean music.
