Proving the point that you never know where the next hot hip-hop sound will come from, Lynchburg, Virginia’s Cooper Scott has emerged as one of the most eneregtic sounds on the East Coast.  Heavily influenced at a very early age by Mac Miller, he began producing, mixing, and mastering sounds at the age of 15.  Not being someone that understands “moderation,” he was producing 20-30 songs per week in high school, but was not really sleeping and was struggling with demons.

 

When asked why he thinks his music is taking off now, Scott will tell you it’s been a matter of maturing and evolving, both with music and personally.  “When I started producing music, a lot of the content and anger was because that was popular in my age group.  Even though I had compliments about the music, sometimes it didn’t feel like me.  After a few years I started to broaden the beat selection, develop more complex instrumentals, understand the industry, and get into collaborations I could trust.”

 

Scott’s works include features with Project Pat (three six maphia),  Sir Michael Rocks (the cool kids), and his closest friends, back in 2019 he officially launched SpaceCoupe, LLC. Just a few months before he released his hit album Clepto.  Since then, his singles, “Crime Starters” and “Console” have also garnered a lot of attention and radio time.

 

What’s been his biggest hype?  “I guess a few things.  I love working with my brother and the Lynchburg Squad.  The endorsement from Amber Rose was crazy.  But I think the biggest hype for me is being on stage in front of people.  I feel like I generate energy and feed off it.  One of my favorite memories was totally random - I was in Florida at this beach concert and my friends somehow got me up on stage so I performed a banger called raincoat with shawty boy (out of atlanta) and the crowd went nuts.”

 

What does he have planned for 2021?  “Hopefully to get out and tour places.  I was signed by a booking agency and had tour coming up early 2020 but COVID kinda shut everything down.  So I’m looking forward to performing.”  And we are looking forward to hearing it.
