Biography

Marcus Drake Alexander Jr., known as SoundOFF The General (or S.O.) was born in Dallas, Texas, but raised in Southwest Little Rock in Arkansas. A melting pot of various musical experiences, SoundOFF's influences include the likes of 2pac, Nipsey Hussle, Chamillionaire, Jay-Z, Drake, Dru Hill, Jodeci, Justin Timberlake, Ne-yo, Bruno Mars, Lauryn Hill, Michael Jackson, and Prince. The artist’s love for music started at an early age when his parents would play the iconic and timeless works of Garth Brooks, Phil Collins, SOS Band, Earth, Wind, and Fire, Jodeci, KCI and JOJO, Queen, Prince, and others.

However, it wasn't until the age of 9 that SoundOFF knew that music was purpose and actualized his own powerful gift which could impact the world. At 13, SoundOFF began freestyling and making mixtapes with his childhood friend Brandon "Street Cammo" Adams. He also went on to form the group Mad Ark Click together with 3rd member Rajay "Yung Slim Mane" Parker. A budding collective, Mad Ark Click went on to independently release "Overlooked but not out wrecked”, “CD Dealers part 1&2”, and “Straight Cakin” series.

Alongside his contemporaries, SoundOFF also opened for independent artists such as Charlie Boy. SoundOFF's most recent work “The Process” was released on his official music streaming platforms, complemented by the effort of rapper, producer, and engineer Desmond "Double D Beats" Davis.

Catapulting towards success, SoundOFF has continued to mesmerize listeners with the breathtaking blend of styles that he can conjure. This appreciation for musical diversity stems from the artist’s experience of being away from music for 6+ years. During his hiatus, SoundOFF got married, experienced preaching, became a college graduate, and learnt to manage his struggles with bipolar disorder (BPD). In 2018, after SoundOFF graduated he had the 1st of 3 manic episodes in 4years- it was this decisive event which paved SoundOFF's way back to music as a form of therapy.

An artist of peerless caliber, SoundOFF has performed over 30 times across the country. He hopes to release several projects in the next few years including “Vibez”, “Contradiction”, and a free mixtape called “Groundbreaking.” Through concerted efforts, he hopes to build a lucrative and impactful music career, tour the world, meet interesting people and make an impact through his creative spirit.
