“You Can’t Text Love Away”

Sargent Tucker’s (ST) motivation behind creating music – “My life-long desire is to create music with a purpose, that inspires kind souls; which is really the cool of America within each of us.”

Today, most daily communication and expression of feelings are done through social media, tweets, face-time, text, and other computer-generated interactions. ST, believes these formats of communication eliminate the human experience; the sound and inflections of a person’s voice, and the ability to be in close proximity when speaking to that special person. While the cell phone allows us the opportunity for instant communication, it often takes-away from the warm feelings that make our relationships rich with meaningful, genuine face to face conversations. “You Can’t Text Love Away”, was inspired by one of today’s technological advances, the cell phone.

The featured song on ST’s Fall 2019 Extended Play (EP) CD, track one, is titled “You Can’t Text Love Away”. The essence of the song is about how the use of technology creates challenges in a relationship between two lovers. Track number two, titled, “Keep on Moving”, is about finishing the workweek, seeking exiting fun, dancing, romancing, and leaving the job behind. The third song, titled, “Time Will Tell”, has lyrics that describe how words or promises don’t always result in actions. The fact is, only, time will convey if what someone says, is really true. Track four, titled “It’s Hot,” has a funky down-beat infectious groove with crafty lyrics, that leaves one imagination to visualize a woman’s sexual appeal. The final track, number five, is Sargent Tucker’s most recent release (July 2019), titled “No One Can Replace You”, which reached #10 on the United Kingdom’s Soul chart.
