Sam The Psalmist

Samuel Mubenesha is a multi-instrumentalist and singer officially stage-named SAM THE
PSALMIST and has a heart burning passion for God's Kingdom.

Originally from the DRC, this high-breed is predominantly French-speaking and well-
travelled. Fleeing the shocking violence in the DRC at the age of six, they lived in Zambia for

a few years, then Botswana, eventually ending up in South Africa, and Sam's accent
celebrates all those places! With the example of a strict doctor for a father and a mother
who has raised her 6 children with creativity and hard work, he has a work ethic and
positivity that will take him far.

Sam had been an accompanist since the age of 12, but never took singing seriously, because
of his reticence. Then in his early 20's, he started receiving songs in his dreams and a
prompting from God to step out and start leading in song.
Initially, he just kept the songs to himself, but God was persistent and gave him even more.
Sam started ministering with it, until one day someone suddenly called him a psalmist! It
resonated and stuck... hence "Sam the Psalmist."
Sam stays an introvert and still feels shy sometimes, but then, God loves using the
unqualified, the underdog and those who are overlooked so that He may receive all the
glory for the work He does through you. Not that he has anything to be shy about! This man
is a chemical engineer by trade and recently graduated with a cum laude in a master degree
program! He is informed, well-read and loves his soccer like anyone else, but if you ask him
what makes him tick, his answer will always be... my MUSIC!
And not just any music... Sam the Psalmist wants to do prophetic ministry through his
worship. He wants to speak the heart of God. No gimmicks, just rely on the Holy Spirit to
give the people what they need in the presence of God. Just like he had received his healing
in that holy place.

Sam: "To be quite honest, I didn't think I was ready to officially launch my music, but the
lockdown put things into perspective. I thought, God has given me all these songs, what if I

don't make it through the lockdown? I don't want to be held accountable for not releasing
these songs that could have blessed and encouraged the world! So that was a wake-up call."



Sam has released his first single called "Yahweh" and his available on digital platforms.
Sam: "The song is about when the Israelites had just left Egypt, where Miriam was singing
the prophetic song about how great God was for leading them through the Red Sea on dry
land. I was at a place where I had experienced so many challenges, and I drew strength from
the fact that if God did it for the Israelites, then He could also do it for me.
Part of the lyrics in the song says: "I'll Sing to You a new song, a new melody inside my
heart." And before I knew it, I was on the keyboard and playing it, and as they say... the rest
is history."
Sam The Psalmist is currently working on his debut album which has a fresh contemporary
