Requiem For Oblivion
AmbientAbout
Requiem For Oblivion (RFO) is a constantly evolving 'hybrid' death metal band from Erie, PA. Started by multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, composer Steve Jacobson in a basement as an ambient, solo recording act.
The project grew and attracted various local musicians, including long-time, second guitarist Geoff Radziszewski in 2011, to keep recording and performing regionally.
The music evolved on each release, with the band experimenting with progressive and atmospheric tendencies, acoustic and classical guitar passages, ghostly clean vocals, and increasing extended range instruments. More recent releases have leaned in the technical death metal direction.
In 2015/2016, with the additions of Kyle Kraschneske on bass, Austin Anderson on drums, and new front man, Mark Fedorcek, the band recorded and released their second full-length, Burning Nation in 2017. This release went in a decidedly more technical and brutal direction.
With the exit of Kyle, Austin and Mark in 2018, drummer Michael Scutella was added to the lineup. Geoff, Mike and Steve began furiously writing for the 3rd full-length. The upcoming album will combine more cohesive songwriting with a more accessible, dynamic #DeathMetal, along with elements of slam and technicality.
5 new songs were released as an EP in spring of 2021, with a full-length follow up to be released in late 2022. Here is a teaser for that upcoming album:

No Clean Singing recently exclusively streamed the title track to RFO's recent sophomore release, Burning Nation. Here's what they had to say: "The song you’re about to hear is both an eye-popping mind-bender and a big adrenaline trigger. It’s so multifaceted and so constantly surprising that it’s likely to leave most listeners exclaiming, “WTF did I just hear?!?,” and then hitting the Play button again without delay. The song is the title track to Burning Nation, the second full-length by a band from Erie, Pennsylvania, named Requiem For Oblivion. It will be released on June 9th."
