Canadian rapper/singer Derrick Ryan Kotyk (known by his stage name PsyKotyk) leaves everything on the page when writing his songs. “It’s therapeutic for me to know I can be of some help. If these songs can help one person get out of a dark space.. (something) like I was in, man I just want to leave the world a better place when I'm gone. I think that's Gods plan for me.” Kotyk said of his his raw often emotional music in a late 2019 interview.
feeling that he had owed his listeners and that he had let them down. He continued to drop single after single on his Soundcloud, until finally announcing that he would be releasing his debut album Ghost Stories on October 31, 2020.The visuals shot and edited turned out perfect but Kotyk began facing a mental health crisis while recording the album, not being able to separate himself from the songs. The release date was ultimately pushed back to December 11th, and as soon as it released Kotyk stated he would be taking some time away from music to focus on his health and recovery.
After a brief hiatus, PsyKotyk seems to have found what he was missing. Hes been dropping hit after hit almost weekly, and has a new album right around the corner!
