About

Born April 13th 1987, Brian Lee, better known as Papa Brain- formerly Bee Lee the M.C.- is a hip hop artist, producer, DJ and entertainment entrepreneur leading his city Washington D.C.'s ward 7 into the future.

Prior to his first album Lee was mainly a producer making beats for local acts. 2010 saw Lee feud with local radio DJ Dirty Rico over what Lee percieved as a lack of respect for DC's underground rap scene which had long been marginalized by the city's immense "Go-Go" music scene. After Lee launched the Fuck WPGC campaign- A boycott of popular DC metro area metro station WPGC 95.5 by local artists and entrepreneurs- DC's music scene slowly began to come to life. Maybe the resistance worked?

Since the ends of that feud Lee has been on the scene since his independent solo debut Memoirs of a Drug Addict in 2011 which spawned the local hit "Friends with Benefits (Kick It)." It along with features from Tabi Bonney, Takeover Band, Marcus Canty (of Fox's X-Factor series) and Wale formed the foundation of his first EP release Pimptation in 2012 that garnered attention from DJ Smallz as well as blogs such as DMVLife.com. Along with longtime friend and partner Brandon Tolson, Lee launched 100 Gz Productions releasing DC Gudda's debut album "G Street: The Beginning" and a compilation before disbanding in 2015.

After forming his independent Mindz Bigger Records in 2015 along with internet TV hip hop music channel 2TurntTV Lee set out to make his second album Memoirs of a Drug Dealer. However release would not see years amid legal and label troubles with multiple mixtapes- .such as Provodkativ: The Blunt Truth or Capitol Crime-being released with mixtures of old and unreleased material filling the void. In 2018, Lee reemerged with new freestyles and a song with Jazze Pha and long time partner DCG. Later that year 3 albums- Relapse EP (a Spotify Exclusive); the long delayed Memoirs of a Drug Dealer; and Pimptation 2 along with the instrumental album "Beats of a Drug Dealer" which saw an early 2019 release.

In 2020 Lee has dialed up some of the most talented producers around and is slowly dripping heat from his newest album and the end of his trilogy, "Memoirs of a Maniac" and is looking to take his brand worldwide. The release date is March 13, 2020 but Lee has promised big surprises along the way.
