Moon P brings to you the harsh reality of life as it is. Covering subjects such as betrayal by the ones he loved the most, and the lack of belief from those who he thought would support him the most, he talks of how he refuses to give up and keep moving forward regardless of who believes in him or not. He speaks on companionship, the nightlife while also touching on his religious faith. Moon P has competed in numerous events local and otherwise with one earning him a red carpet independent artist in Florida.

Moon P credits 2Pac as one of his biggest inspirations. He believes 2pac was a voice for the people that could not be heard. It’s no secret how polarizing of a figure 2Pac was as well as controversial. Yet, 2Pac also spoke on topics such as poverty, injustices to people of color, as well as motivating women to never give up but to keep striving for better (Keep Ya Head Up). He was a revolutionary. Moon P credits 2Pac as one of the forces that drove him to speak on topics that people go through on a day-to-day basis. Another artist Moon P attributes to influencing his music is J. Cole. Although both J. Cole and 2Pac are completely different in the delivery of their messages, Moon P believes that they both shared the same vision which was the expression of their life experiences. J. Cole speaks more on the true value in life such as love, prosperity, and appreciation of those that means the world to them; friends, family, and otherwise. J. Cole doesn’t glorify things such as money, drugs, crime and corruption. He speaks to uplift his people. This is one thing Moon P hopes to accomplish through his music messages.

Moon P’s most notable work Hands Up Don’t Shoot speaks on the harsh reality of what it’s like to live in America as a black man. Believing that black people aren’t treated fairly in America; he was inspired to write this song after seeing the treatment of Sandra Bland, an activist for people of color who mysteriously die in jail. Trayvon martin, Eric Gardner, and Michael Brown who were unjustifiably murdered while their offenders were let off the hook also drove him to speak out about the injustices of black people in America. His awareness of the governments political agenda was placed on display through the use of his lyrics. The song On Everything from his recently released project Barbershop Diaries taps on his thought that regardless of who counted him out in any situation, he’s going to overcome any obstacle that’s put in his way. That theme also holds true through his titles The Only One and Walk with me.

Simply put, Moon P looks to create change in the outlook of the common black male. Through his music he hopes to be an inspiration to the next generation and show that life is about more than the street life. That regardless who believes in you or not, you don’t lose until you quit. Moon P believes hat in order to create change in the world, we must change our train of thought.
