Martini Russa
BluesAbout
Classic rock with a modern edge. Martini Russa is an international duo, power couple and rock band with members hailing from Brazil, Russia, Venezuela, and the USA. Anastasia was born in Moscow. At age 15 she moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where, upon graduating from high school, she studied jazz history, piano performance and psychology at the University of Arizona. She has been in bands since she was 16 years old, and has released albums of original songs with her previous bands Ghetto Princess (Tuscon, AZ, 2003), the Theory (Tucson, AZ, 2009), and One Wing Left (Oxford, UK, 2015).
Martini hails from Porto Alegre, Brazil. He has been playing guitar since he was 14 years old, and has studied music at EM&T, the School of Music and Technology in Sao Paulo. At the age of 18 he moved to Barcelona, Spain in search for a different life, adventure, and to study flamenco guitar. But rock music has always been his first passion, so upon meeting Anastasia, he chose to move to Oxford with her instead of going to Thailand, and to dedicate his life fully to music. He is a black belt in Karate and speaks 5 languages.
Having met in Barcelona, Spain, the duo immediately started working on their own material as well as classic rock and blues covers, and have been creating and playing together all over the world, including Europe, Russia, Australia, and the US. Anastasia has a PhD in Psychology and an MBA from Oxford University. But in the end she mustered all of her courage to follow the path of music instead. She believes that music, curiosity, and self-education will save the world: “The only defense is your mind, so keep it sharp and ablaze!” - a lyric from Anastasia’s song “Midazolam Daze”.
Martini Russa currently live in Naples, Florida, where they were joined by Marco Barroso, a multi-instrumentalist from Venezuela and Miami, on drums and bass, and various musicians on bass and drums depending on the occasion. They are proud winners of Southwest Florida’s Rock the Stage 2022.
