Marley J Wills

South London born Singer/songwriter, Marley J Wills saw the rise of Acid music, hardcore, drum & bass and jungle, and was on the scene from the beginning and gravitating towards the mic,  helped form the Jungle Junkies, resulting in a permanent slot at the, Gas club in London and appearing on the first legal jungle radio station, Don.fm.
Marley found himself on the garage scene where he was spotted by Mecca records performing one of his songs at the Colosseum Club in London.

Now signed to Mecca Recordings, finishing an album was the goal, but before he could launch his album the company went bust.

Despite the collapse of Mecca Recordings Marley’s work continued, not only in his songwriting and vocal development but also vocal coaching and helping those that walked through the studio doors, and that’s when a 15 year old Leona Lewis was introduced to Marley  and he began helping Leona cross over from classical musical to contemporary R&B, working as an inhouse vocal coach. This lead to Marley and Leona being asked to cover the hit song, Loving You, and the beginning of 2000 saw the rebirth of, Loving You, performed by Marley J Wills and Leona Lewis. However, that is as far as it went, marking the beginning and the making of the unique sound, ‘DaGroove’, created By producer Bigga Manifest & Marley J Wills, coming out of, Ghetto Born But Raised Records!

Moving on from dance music, Marley and Bigga, a perfect partnership, began co writing and producing music that came from the heart,  rather then be a carbon copy of the latest trend, creating a sound that derived from everything they grew up listening to, which was the most natural thing they felt they should do. Out of this fusion of jazz, soul, hip hop, classical, rock, pop  music which influenced producer and artist, DaGroove was born.

Marley formed the band Dagroovestation and began performing original songs in and around London and became a regular in his local town performing at the, Croydon Food Festival, Purley Festival and the O2 in Islington. Marley was performing on a regular basis and was spreading DaGroove across London.
Meetings with record labels such as Virgin began to manifest, always resulting in the majors wanting something that sounded like something else. This only drove Marley and Bigga towards doing exactly what they wanted to do, producing music that was original, and truly there’s, and went onto producing and writing music purely for the love of it. Fast forward to 2023 and 22 releases later  DaGrooove is ready now more then ever for the world to hear.
Having spent many years working on DaGroove,  there’s nothing more important than Mj wills and DaGroove getting airplay.
Marley J Wills, produces a soulful sound with a splice of reggae as well as bit of sing jay in his voice and draws upon a wide range of music appreciation using harmonies,counter melodies and classic vocal arrangements using the voice as an instrument.
Hearing this unique fusion of sound composed by Bigga Manifest and vocally blessed by MJ Wills will surely capture the musical connoisseur within the listener as their lyrics touch on subject matters pertaining to worldly affairs and real life situations, along with light hearted songs of love for those moments. One thing for sure these guys have a song for every occasion, in the name of, DaGroove!
