About

Born in the island of Seychelles; a small island near the coast of Africa, Ricky is no stranger to his island roots. At a very young age, he found inspiration with classic reggae roots artists such as: Beres Hammond, Bob Marley, Sanchez & Gyptian , to name a few. Surrounded by a musical family, it was a given that Ricky should soon be interested in following the footsteps of his family members. After moving to Montreal, and being exposed to such a vast musical culture that the city has to offer. He fell in love with the Montreal lifestyle and started to develop his own vision into becoming an artist. After years of crafting his style. The self taught Ricky now became "Mad Ricky". Along with the new name came a new style of music, something similar to a fusion of Dancehall, Pop, Reggae, and R&B. It is fair to assume that his love for dancehall music and the urban city lifestyle is deeply reflected on his "island vibe party music". One thing is certain, Mad Ricky loves music and is an active student of his art. He is a versatile artist capable of switching genres at a heart beat, from soulful R&B, to commercial Pop and of course blissful reggae. He believes that music is a mirror to your soul and tries to remain grounded and humble to that belief as he writes his content, enabling his fans to feel a real connection when tuning in to his music. The best way to describe MAD RICKY is " THE URBAN ISLANDER".
