Kobe Jakil

This ATLien is the son of Grammy-winning producer “Carl-Mo” who produced hits like “I Like The Way You Move by Outkast” & “My Boo by Ghost Town DJs”. Kobe, is one of the most unique talents that underground rap has ever seen, if not the most. It’s only safe to say that for him, music runs through his veins. To showcase his full artistry, he ran with all of his talents in music, ranging from songwriting, production, engineering, doing his own album covers & even directing and editing his own music videos. Being named after The Black Mamba himself, it only makes sense that he’s a one-man band, and is pretty good at being one.

     Kobe’s music journey started in 2015 when he was 15 years old, learning how to produce with just an iPhone. His top 5 music inspirations are Andre 3000, Kanye West, Childish Gambino, Kid Cudi & Tyler The Creator. He decided to take his music seriously and become an artist about a year later known as “Autiophile”. He chose that name at the time because it meant “someone who loves music”, and he even released an alternative mixtape with little to no vocals under the name called “Autiophile’s Band Experiment” on SoundCloud, which got him a few listeners in his city. Almost a year later, he sent a shock through Atlanta and the world of underground music by dropping his debut album, “Jakil” on all streaming services, accompanied by pleasing trailers and a visual. By that time, he shortened his name and changed it to “Auti Jakil” because “Jakil” was his middle name and he wanted to remain himself as much as possible.

    His debut album accumulated a total of 18,000 streams in the matter of a few weeks, he gained a following, started doing performances, landed written interviews, and was on the rise during the summer & autumn of 2018. However, the world didn’t see much of Kobe again until 2022. He only dropped two full projects, and a few SoundCloud EP’s with little to no promotion due to his own fears and anxiety that he’s spoken about on rare occasions. He said that he still wanted to release music, however, he wasn’t in the right head space to be in the public eye or even be around large crowds at the time. Until he was.

     This year (2022), we’ve seen more of Kobe than ever before. He just release his self-titled album called, “KOBE” and it’s already making a ton of noise across the world. Kobe, is one of the most influential and inspiring artists of this new generation and his legendary testimony speaks for itself.
