Keithus I - Bio
Keithus I new album release titled “ Truth is Thy Way “ consist of 11 tracks by players of
instruments and singers of truths in this package of roots reggae music.
Given name Milton Samuels, is a native of Kingston Jamaica. Growing up in Allman Town,
Milton Samuels aka Keithus I shared the same yard space with Don Drummond a Trombone
player of the Skatalites Band where his attractions to music was acknowledged. As Keithus I
watched Drummond clean his instrument and create beautiful melodies the love and affection
for roots reggae music started there.
From a very early age Keithus I was not only inspired by greats in the reggae musical capital, he
played right alongside many of them. While attending the Central Brach Primary school as a
kid, Keithus I met other aspiring musicians now known as reggae pioneers such as...Glen Ricks,
Dawn Penn and the late Dennis Brown.
Keithus I have memories of Eric Monty Morris helping his Mom sell fruit and fritters under a
shady tree in the school yard. Morris is a founding artist of the Ska music movement. It was
there where these young artists would show off their singing chops and would be rewarded
with fruit by Morris. Keithus I recalls Dennis Brown usually winning the most produce,
admittedly because Brown had the best melodies. Together the group took part in many school
concerts under the guidance of Mr. Crawford, a music instructor and the late Madge Sinclair, a
tutor and guidance counselor.
Keithus I's first recording was "Red Hot" with Aston (Family Man) Barrett, Carlton Barrett, his
brother and Tyrone Downey of the legendary Bob Marley and the Wailers Band.
Keithus I recorded several singles during the 70's, song titles include...
"Red Hot", "Dread Locks I", "Save The Children" to name a few.
Keithus I has written lyrics for 5 albums titled:

3) The People’s Cry
4) Silent Listen
5) Truth is Thy Way ( is his latest album, produced by JahDynasty and Phat Trax Productions)
Growing up in the heart of reggae's music capital Kingston, Jamaica...Keithus I was inspired by
the deep roots culture, lyrics and rhythms. Despite the fresher flavor of music today, Keithus I
stays true to his deep roots with a reggae blues flavor.
