About

Kay Marion is a Black singer-songwriter and actress from High Point, North Carolina. Coming from a family of musicians, her passion for the performing arts has led to her training in several fields including film/television, theatre, classical performance, and R&B performance. She acquired her Bachelors of Arts degrees in Music and Public Policy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is currently working on her Masters of Music in Vocal Performance from Longy School of Music of Bard College. She plans to build a performance career that spans across genres. Her passion for the creation of art is derived from the duality of her Black experience. That duality is exemplified in the freedom and emotional range that soul music demands and the disciplined conflict that taking space in the classical realm entails. She believes that showing up to her art with her whole self is what most often allows her to create pieces and performances that not only inspire people to think/feel differently but to take action. Her goal is for her authenticity in both classical and soul music to be a part of bringing about freedom-inspired change and healing.
