Originalternativefunkjazzfusionists SOUNDOCTRINE first appeared at The Northeastern Ohio Gospel Music Connection in January 2002. Two weeks later they opened for Grammy Winner
Bobby “Blue” Bland. Subsequently, the group began consistently recording and performing throughout Northern Ohio, Western P.A., Kentucky & Maryland and in to New York state.


SOUNDOCTRINE’S award winning debut CD “PERSEVERANCE,” released on their NIAYANA RECORDINGS Label earned the band the 2003 Nu Soul Album of the Year from Soul Patrol. They followed it up with “SD Live" which was a compilation of their early shows. The band’s third album entitled “ENDURANCE” was released to rave reviews and set them up to begin opening for such acts like Spyro Gyra, Kirk Whalum, Pieces Of A Dream and Atlantic Starr. "Endurance" was also chosen #3 Best Jazz Funk Album of 2006 by Soul Patrol. The album offered up three tunes which gained consistent rotation on The Weather Channel, featuring the Jim Couchenour penned “Smallmouth Bass” remixed by Smooth Jazz Legend, Bob Baldwin. “Chi Tea” remains the theme song for WFMJ-TV21’s Community
Connection since its release. Their music and 2002 Border’s Blitz Tour, documented by noted Filmmaker, Art Byrd was accepted as a finalist into the Hollywood Black Film Festival. The film was featured throughout the event in Hollywood, CA in June 2004.

SOUNDOCTRINE has been nominated as Best Jazz Artist by the 2004 American Gospel Music Awards. They are a 2006 Capital Jazz Fest Finalist and have performed at Cleveland’s famed Rock and Roll Museum as part of WZAK 93.1 FM’s “Rock and Soul Day.” SOUNDOCTRINE was the Host Band for Soul Patrol’s 2007 Black Heritage Festival inPhiladelphia, PA and performed with the legendary Delfonics, Angel Woodruff, Michael Henderson, Gordon Chambers and Sonnyboy.

The band's fourth project, “INSPIRE” released in 2010, featured the renown Marlon Saunders collaborating on the soulful "Just Think" and their ballad "Marriage" earned them their eighth consecutive song to air on The Weather Channel. Soul Brother Number New, Carlton J Smith joined the Legendary Edsels on the retro single "Love Wins Again."

2015's "SOURCE" album contained the hit cover "Stop On By" featuring famed guitarist Eric Tyus which held the Billboard's Top Ten Smooth Jazz Chart for two weeks in November.

During the band's hiatus, Drummer/Producer and founding member Jere B debuted his funk filled solo project, "Fizh & Gritz" in September 2019, featuring the single "Fake News."

SOUNDOCTRINE is preparing a new release "Vision" for 2020.
