Hailing from Houston, Texas, J.Star brings a unique blend of passion, resilience, and raw talent to the music scene. Born in Pittsburgh and raised by a strong, determined mother, he grew up immersed in a world where faith, sports, and the arts played key roles. His grandfather, a baseball player in the historic Negro League for the Homestead Braves, and his uncle, a dedicated pastor, served as early inspirations, shaping his outlook on perseverance and purpose.

Baseball was J.Star’s first love. A standout athlete, he earned a scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh, where he played with dreams of going pro. However, after suffering two knee injuries, his journey to the MLB came to an unexpected halt. The setback led him to unexpected places—working in pizza shops and rediscovering his voice through karaoke contests, where his soulful performances began capturing attention.

It wasn’t until 2019, when his mother fell ill and passed away, that music became a driving force in his life. With time to reflect during the global shutdown of 2020, he channeled his grief and determination into learning the craft of music, fueled by a promise to honor his mother’s legacy.

Blending his experiences from choir performances, theater programs, and life’s trials, J.Star creates music that resonates with authenticity and emotion. With Houston as his home base, he’s on a mission to prove that no dream is impossible, even without connections in the entertainment world.
