Iyah Ka Om

Born Mthiya Lunga on September 17,1984 in krugrersdorp, Leratong Hospital and raised in Katlehong, a historically significant township in South Africa I developed love for music at an early age.

EARLY YEARS

I attended early schooling in Monde P School in Katlehong. I aspired to be a police man but the music took me by storm. Nursery rhymes layed a foundation to practice and sharpen an inborn skill. My school was always number one in music competitions and as the talent was boiling up there was choral music and cultural music at school and at home with the influence of my brothers I was fed with RnB, Rap, kwaito, pop etc.

By my fifth year in primary I wrote a song of my own. We created music groups and boy bands with other interested youth and performed in concerts and entertainment events that took place. Throughout the years I've sharpened my songwriting and enhanced my talents.

Upon entering High School, in 1998 I joined New Generation Theatre Production which was a cast. I assisted in script writing for plays and also composed songs. I later became a director of the plays in which I co-scripted and acting combined with music was a phenomenal discovery for me.

By 2004 I started recording my own music in various studios. My first recording was with DJ Castro. We were a duo with Iya Don Benji and Dj Castro was our then producer.

In 2006 I did projects in Yeoville at Digital Dungeon Studio where I worked with Bushy Williams who is a keyboardist, artist and producer and whose expertise and credentials are high in the music business. He is an inspiration I look up to and has been my mentor eversince.

I then met my current producer Mpho Langa aka StokSwit . I recorded an Album tittled World Citizen in 2012 which was my first recording and which never went too far.
While in the process trying to promote ourselves, I met up with King Roots. A Dj and sound system owner from Brooklyn New York and we did shows and organised events around Ekurhuleni, Yeoville, Joburg and Soweto from 2007 to 2018 when I decided to register my own company D VIBEZ ENTERTAINMENT (Pty ) Ltd with an intent to educate and mentor young artists about the business of music.

I'm still promoting music from my EP tittled THE CONSTRUCTION produced by Stok Swit and working on producing a television programme whereby young and independent musicians will be schooled on the ins and outs of the music industry.

Also under D Vibez Entertainment I'm promoting my new album under the name Iyah Ka Om. The album is tittled The Joint Sitting :A Reasoning With The Gods. Its already in stores released 01 December 2021 and distributed by DistroKid.

2004. I did my first recording as a rapper with Dj Castro
2008.I was featured in a cultural roots project by Lion Silver Dread from West Africa (Ivory Coast)
2008 I was featured in two songs from an album tittled FREEDOM by Sir Bushy Williams
2009 I recorded my own album in Digital Dungeon Studio produced by Bushy Williams and engineered by Donald & Paul Way.
2009 also featured in a song by Man Wellaz from Zimbabwe
Late 2009 I recorded a street mix tape at Black House Studio. Engineered by King Roots from Brooklyn, New York
2019 I released an EP tittled THE CONSTRUCTION. Engineered by Stok Swit
Currently with my own company I'm putting together a television programme to help artists establish themselves with an intension to have it aired throughout the country and we are still searching for a sponsor in in this regard.
2021 under a new Name Iyah Ka Om Through D Vibez Entertainment I released my esoteric sacred work tittled The Joint Sitting :A Reasoning With The Gods currently available in all major digital stores.
