Calamity Claire is a budding hip hop artist based in Philly.
Her style is dark, dirty, and full of grit. She writes catchy, complex melodic beats often  interwoven with sung bridges Her lyrical writing is as real as it gets. Tells of personal struggles. Sometimes touching on issues that are harsh yet real. Sometimes just fun. But always delivering the message in an extremely creative and often humorous way.
Her vocals are unusual. Gruff and distorted sounding. Some times screamy. But also sweet at times to create contrast in a piece.She loves layering and harmonizing with vocals. She has been influenced by hip hop of course, especially old school hip hop, but also punk, grunge, that time at band camp with her clarinet, and growing up with a jazz musician dad. She loves playing with rhythm and eerie bass lines/ chord progressions/ dissonance and pushing the envelope musically but tastefully.
