Trucker hats were on every head, The OC was on every screen, and Emo music had entered the scene in a big way. Bands like Dashboard Confessional were on countless mixtapes, possibly even some made by Brendan Morrison. Fast forward to today and now Brendan is making his own emo records, including his 2018 release, Fear.

Where Brendan Morrison is today isn't where he started. In 2012 he was a member of the post-hardcore band We Cry Mercy. Winning the annual Battle of the Bands, they won a slot of Vans Warped Tour playing both Scranton, Pennsylvania and Columbia, Maryland. While they found a hint of success at the moment, they disbanded shortly after their Warped debut. Brendon took that time to put music on hold, finish college, and pack his things in New York and move to Florida.

Once a musician, always a musician and in 2017 he was releasing music again. Only this time he was on his own and heading in a new direction. "A Song For Bad Days" and "Brighter" were Brendan's first steps towards where he is today. An artist who took Dashboard Confessional to heart over the years. Brendan noted of his Chris Carrabba inspo, "Their music is introspective and metaphorical, but sometimes it’s very literal and it’s always real and relatable. I always think about that when I write. If I know I’m not being authentic then I know everyone that’s listening will see right through the façade."

He stuck with that notion when penning his 2018 release, Fear. An album that isn't about the things we're most scared of holding us back, but facing those things and pushing past them. In a time where mental health is no longer off the table for discussion, "Tomorrow Through Tonight" touches on anxiety, while "Set Me Free" is a universal tune that expresses that feeling of being stuck between where you are and where you want to me, and if that idea of "better" is just a romanticized idea or reality. Lyrically driven and expressive throughout, Brendan Morrison delivers an album both Dashboard Confessional and Into It. Over It. fans would add to their Spotify playlist. Which many have. "Set Me Free" has racked up almost 30,000 plays on there to date.

Right now Brendan splits his time between music and a day job but plans on leaving the 9-5 when the first opportunity arises. He already plays in and around Florida regularly, including a weekly open mic at Rain Dogs in Jacksonville. Musically speaking he'll release a couple of songs before the end of 2018, record a new EP and drop it near the start of 2019.
