Solo gospel artist Avis Marie Bickham glorifies God’s word with each song. Avis is a recording artist, praise and worship leader, songwriter, composer, and an ordained minister of the gospel. Avis’ voice reaches all in her ministry and beyond, bringing a message of hope, peace, and love to listeners. 

Avis gave her life to the Lord at the age of twelve, from that moment, she knew that her path would be ministering the gospel in song. Afterward, she started singing and playing the piano in her church.  Beyond sharing her musical gifts with the church, Avis recorded several CDs, two with her late husband, Kenneth C. Douglas, Sr. They are "Enter In" and "Spirit of Worship." Later, she released “Worship With Avis,” "God Has Broken the Mirror to My Past," "Christmas With Avis," and "It's Christmas Time Again." Avis has completed a new CD, "I Am Sure," which was released in April of this year.

Avis believes that her ability to walk with God makes her music unique. Her song "I Am Sure" is a song that was inspired by the Holy Ghost after leaving choir rehearsal. Avis was concerned about certain issues going on in her city and in the Body of Christ. God quickly spoke to Avis, saying, “ You may not be sure of what is going on around you but you can rest assured in who I am.” Avis’ work is meant to reach and connect people with God’s love, no matter the religious denomination. 

Avis has been nominated for the 2020 Rhythm of Gospel Award Show for CCM Christian Song of the Year for (I Am Sure), Praise & Worship Female Vocalist of the Year, and Traditional Female Vocalist of the Year. Avis has traveled locally and internationally to many churches leading them in praise and worship and conducting praise and worship workshops. Avis has appeared on the Bobby Jones Gospel Show and has traveled to West Africa to be in concert.

Musically, Avis is inspired by Shirley Ceasar, Andre Crouch, Ron Kenoly, Bebe and Cece Winans, Yolanda Adams, Maranda Curtis, and Tasha Cobbs Leonard. Although she is influenced by these singers musical abilities and the anointing that rests on their lives as they lead others into worship, Avis has a unique style of her own making the ultimate goal of setting the atmosphere for God, so He can come in and change a chaotic environment into one that is filled with His peace, rest, and the manifestation of miracles.

Avis is the proud wife of Minister T. Harvey Bickham. They have five children and nine grandchildren. When she is not ministering to others, she is the teacher and owner at Happy Fingers Piano Studio, where she teaches piano to children ranging from age 5 to adults.

Avis' future plans, once the pandemic calms, is to travel to various ministries encouraging the Body of Christ through her music and to continue to conduct praise and worship workshops. She also wants to help foster the careers of young ministers and gospel singers.
