The Come Up
My name is Marcus, but I am well known as Ace, Aceman or Aceman Boogie. I was born in Paddington West London, and spent my first 9 years growing up on the Lancaster West Estate in Latimer road W11. We then moved to Cowley Estate in Brixton, SW9 for about 3 years, then moved about 4 miles up the road to West Norwood SE27. Like the majority of people growing up in South London, I was not dealt the best hand of cards in life, but have definately managed to aquaire a good hand of Aces lol.. ( you see what i did their ) By the time i was 14 years of age I was starting to get a little name for myself on these cold streets of South London. I was robbing, stealing cars (including my mums), fighting against different little crews, going to Bashment dances and eventually got expelled from school. At that time I was on a football trial with Fulham F.C, but once I got expelled from school, mum and dad banned me from football. To me, this is when things went left.
Finding Myself
I found myself on the roads alot more and was involved in all types of criminal activities untill I met Babymother number 1, 2 and 3. Thats when I started to slow down and found a legal job. It did not last very long though, and I got involved with drugs and doing out of town missions to make some real money. I got locked up in November 2004 and was released in February 2008. I then went back to prison again from May 2010 until May 2013. That was the sentence that changed me from a boy to a man. My eldest daughter did not speak to me for the first 6 months of that sentence, and made me realise that a transition in my life was needed.
The Transition
Thats when I got my act together and made a concious decision to take life alot more serious. I did a business manager course and started to look into business ownerships for my childrens sake for when im not around. I started to write lyrics again so I can continue with my music, which I have so much passion for. In fact it was my eldest daughter and her partner that got me into the new way of releasing music on the social network platforms. They uploaded 10 tracks of my un-released songs (mixtape) to YouTube in December 2019 (JAILTALES) which got some great feedback. Since then I have released an EP called "The Journey" and about 6 singles to all the major platforms and am getting ready to release another EP, and possibly an album at some point. This is me telling my story of how I transitioned from a boy to a man. I hope you can find the time to take a listen and see my Transition, and hopefully support my Journey. (oops, I did it again lol).
I hope you enjoy,
Marcus aka Aceman Boogie
