Lyric Sheet

Put me on the Bonfire

I open my eye
to see the world
with no disguise
it’s just a pearl
You know I see it all
when we rise and when we fall
don’t you?

Lovers meet
and melt together
in harmony
like air and feather
the rain will make it drop
the wind will pick it up
let it be

I don’t fear the day my feet will burn on sparkling coal
as I do the keçak dance to keep away old spirits and souls

Put me on the bonfire baby, to see if I burn
put a stone around my feet! To the rivers! You know how I yearn!
Push me out from a roof top baby, I’ll fly on my broom
down to my Brocken ladies
I will fly to my tomb

See the red?
it’s all in his eyes
It’s all in your head
it’s all in his mind
They force him to fight
until they hit him bulls eye
let it be, let it be, let it be

Butterflies

You see the blue shawl embracing her
You see the starlings in the sky
You see the angels protecting her
as her wild soul flies

She’s got her hands on!
Everywhere she looks
She’s got her man and
he’s hanging on a hook

And the paint dries
under feet of butterflies
They hang on a wall
as a pleasure for the eye
And they’ll faint, die
under sheets of lullabies
Until the rain falls
to set them free to fly
and the’ll fly
they’ll fly

And the Earth keeps turning around
Keep hanging in the air
until you reach the same old ground
The birds sing through the air
it’s Spring so hang in there
A hand in her pocket
and a heart in her hands
She will rock it
set him free to be a man

Press Quotes

Brian Bacchus: Grammy winning producer. A & R on Norah Jones’ “Come away with me”: “Cecilie Beck is a triple threat – a musician/singer, songwriter and multi-disciplined visual artist. But her most dangerous talent is her imagination and concept!
She creates a world where all her talents come together to paint a picture, when she creates songs. Her songs are synesthetic tone poems. They are 3 dimensional with all 5 (or 6) senses being put to work. She is the new renaissance artist! Open your ears, your eyes, the rest of your senses… but most of all your heart to Cecilie Beck.”
Artfile Magazine “Cecilie Beck’s work tackles issues surrounding gender, race, and class with an eagerness that is matched by her interdisciplinary approach to art and music. Recently arriving from Denmark and now a New Yorker at heart, Cecilie has been making a stamp on the Brooklyn art scene”

Nordic Music Review: “Cecilie has released ‘Butterflies’. and it’s a confident promising debut, a well constructed ‘experimental folk’ style song, with a laid back piano opening and contemporary feel.”

Nora McCarthy (writer for Jazz Inside Magazine). Press release for album Here is Now: “Her (… Cecilie Beck’s ) lyrics are interlaced with urban wisdom that insinuates a strong female power and an innocence with a provocative edge.”

Danish Newspaper Randers Amtsavis: “Cecilie knows how to do everything herself and she goes ahead and does it”
