Rocky Michaels is a California born acoustic singer-songwriter. His folkstyle music has been influenced over the years by such artists as The Eagles, James Taylor, John Mellencamp and John Mayer – to name a few. Performing on both piano and guitar, Rocky has been able to tap into his life experiences to offer honest lyrics in storytelling that audiences have found to be engaging and relatable.
Rocky began playing piano at age 5 and crafted his skills into songwriting during his high school years. After college, he co-formed the rock band, ‘The Niantics’ and began playing gigs throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. After the band’s run of several years and a growing following from their live performances, Rocky took a long pause from performing to focus on and cultivate his own true sound and expression with his future songwriting efforts. Ultimately returning to what he loves the most – sharing with the public his life stories through songs, he hit the ground running in late 2019 as an independent artist. Having no social media presence to begin with, he started releasing his music and within just a few months had surpassed 20,000 streams on Spotify by April 2020, catching the praise of several Nashville record producers along the way.
