Katie Pederson

Indie, Pop, Singer/Songwriter

Indianapolis, IN, USA

Hailing from Ann Arbor, MI, Katie is a singer songwriter whose style has been influenced by Sara Bareilles, Jon McLaughlin, and Ben Folds. Though classically trained in both voice and piano, Katie has chosen to stick with her pop instincts, putting together rhythmic piano and strong vocal lines as a form of self expression that began five years ago, and shows no signs of stopping.

Throughout college, Katie performed for several on-campus events, including winning a student run competition that allowed her to open for “The Audition,” in the spring of 2011. Perhaps her most memorable performance experience was being a part of Madonna’s choir for Superbowl XLVI in 2012 as a part of Butler University’s Chorale; but since then, she has performed several of her own shows in venues across Indianapolis, IN, where she currently lives. Her song, “Wildwood,” was selected to be recorded and featured on the Butler Artists sampler, released late 2013.

Katie began training to be an entertainer at the Indianapolis dueling piano bar, “Howl at the Moon,” in May 2012 and since then, has developed over one hundred fifty songs of popular cover repertoire from the 60s to today. Most recently, Katie was one of six finalists that were chosen for the Sara Bareilles’ Blessed Unrest Cover Contest, and was described as having “a very powerful voice and great musicality,” by singer songwriter, Holly Conlan.

Katie released her debut EP, “Happimess,” in November 2013 with a few songs that she wanted to bring to life. The EP was produced by Dave Douglas and is now on iTunes, CD Baby, and Bandcamp.
