Why should I pay for publicity?

Fair question, and one we hear often. Publicists work upfront, not on commission — that’s how PR has always worked, for major labels and independent artists alike. Every time you hear an artist on the radio or read about them in a music blog, someone paid for that placement: a label, a manager, or the artist themselves.

Managers and agents often work on a percentage, but they’re taking a cut of momentum that already exists — a proven track record of press coverage, radio interest, and a real fan base. Nobody with real industry connections signs an unknown act “on spec.” Publicity is what builds the track record managers and labels look for in the first place.

Whether you’re just starting out or already established, investing in getting your name and music in front of the right outlets pays off in your visibility, your fan base, and ultimately your bottom line.
