Artist Interview: Then Falls The Sky
Tell us about yourself and your music
We started this project to create music that we enjoyed to both listen and perform. We released 2 albums. Last year we got an opportunity to be apart of a music tour that was a little different from most. The Extreme Tour. The chance to travel and spread good values. A week before our first date our Vocalist has to leave the band for his family. And our bassist left shortly after. So we had to cancel our participation in the tour. We spent 9 long months to find new members. Just when hope seemed to be a glimmer in the distance. We found Nick Barlage and Oney Michaels. We are now stronger for what we have gone through, and I feel we are exactly where we need to be. We have adopted this experience into our message. We bring a message of hope in all to the often dark world.
Talk to us more about your latest release
The Catalyst releases on June 20th. Features 5 new songs of which Synical recently won IMEA Metal song of the year. Then 8 songs from our existing catalog featuring our new sound and current members. Waiting for deals with the self-doubt and how hard it can be to move past it all. Hostage our personal favorite is about taking charge of your life and not letting anyone hold you hostage to their agenda.
What inspired you to write this release?
It was our next step. To prove to ourselves and the world that we won’t be beaten. We are all the sum total of our experiences. The Catalyst is about those moments, that change us forever. We as a brand have gone through such a change. Our sound is darker and edgier. Our message has more weight now than before.
Any plans to release a video?
We are currently throwing around that very idea. We haven’t landed on anything solid yet, but I would say to expect something later this year.
Any plans to hit the road?
We are planning on that. It likely going to be early next year.
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
We are who we are. We don’t try to portrait anything we are not. We are just people trying to share our message and music with others.
Who have you been listening to lately?
Bullet for my valentine
Bury my name
Speaking with ghosts
Oceans beneath us
Tell us about your passions
My daughter. Me and the misses tried for 6 long years and when we were at our lowest point, along came Emersyn. She is now a year and a half old and already making a name with the beauty pageants. She has more awards than I’ve ever had. Daddy loves you baby Emersyn.
What else is happening next in your world?
Playing a lot of local shows this year with a lot of great friends and good people. Hopefully get out on the road early next year.
Thanks for an awesome interview, Chad!
