Tell us about yourself and your music
I’m a Hip-Hop artist from Milwaukee, WI. I don’t use any profanity or explicit lyrics, so my music reaches all ages. With me being a preschool teacher, it has really shown me the importance of my voice as a teacher and artist.
Talk to us more about your latest release
My last album Dreams Start Young 3, released earlier this year and it’s the third part to my Dreams Start Young series. It’s filled with stories about my life, how I deal with the stresses and struggles I go through, and also great bars.
Any plans to hit the road?
If anyone is looking for an artist for their shows or tour, they should contact me! For now, I’ll be spending my weeks in my classroom with my kids.
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
My music is a positive message, and it’s clean while still being enjoyable. That alone makes me stand out, because I don’t promote violence or drugs.
Who have you been listening to lately?
I listen to a bit of everything. I’ve really been into Blackbear and Kevin Garrett lately. I go with my vibe and moods.
Tell us about your passions
What literally gets me out of bed in the morning, is working with my kids in my preschool class. I love the smiles and new things I can lead them towards. It’s so important for children to have positive role models in their lives.
What else is happening next in your world?
Most Friday’s, I’m rapping for Damian Lillard’s @4BarFriday on Instagram. So, everyone can follow me @1lexdarapper, and join in on the fun too.
Thanks for an awesome interview, Alexis!
