Artist Interview: DiegoUltra
Tell us about yourself and your music
Born Diego Austin and 19 years old. I’m from a small town In Pennsylvania, ten minutes from the town Lil Skies grew up in. I’ve always had a passion for music but I started really getting into music when I was 18. I went and invested in some studio equipment and taught myself everything from scratch. I will never give up on my dream.
Talk to us more about your latest release
My newest song “100 Grams” was my first song I wrote in like 5 months of being out of the music game. It has meaning to me and I think a lot of people can actually relate to it as well. It’s a very original sound that a lot of artists can’t copy. I mixed and mastered the track myself.
What inspired you to write this release?
I was working a construction job before and people were always telling me “when’s a new song coming?” I later quit my job and started chasing my music aspirations and this was the first song I wrote coming back. I get a lot of my inspiration from current mainstream hip hop artists like Future, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Durk, and NBA Youngboy.
Any plans to release a video?
Yes most definitely, still in the works. Hardest part is finding people to work with.
Any plans to hit the road?
Yes but in time I’m still not that far along in my music career and I need to build my fanbase.
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
Ultra is my brand and also my team. It’s in my name and I got tatted on my chest it means something to me. I don’t wanna be good or super, I’m ULTRA! I’m white and Mexican my voice is very unique so once people catch my wave I’m going to blow up and that’s facts.
Who have you been listening to lately?
Lately I’ve been listening to Trippie Red, Gunna, and Lil Baby but my favorite artists are Lil Durk, NBA youngboy,Future
Tell us about your passions
I’m a weed connoisseur haha but other than music I like to play video games and watch hockey. But I love spending time with friends and family. I put them before my music.
What else is happening next in your world?
next move is to release a mixtape and drop a music video.
Thanks for an awesome interview, Diego!
