Who Is Jesse Roads?

Tell us about yourself and your music

I’ve been a touring musician for 22 years! I love playing live and connecting with the fans, it’s who I am. I genuinely love all music genres and I have a guilty pleasure for pop music. I would describe my music as rock, indie, blues, folk, roots, and pop.

Talk to us more about your latest release

My latest release Sweet Alberta is such a cool song. It was written by my bass player Scotty Wiber and one of his best buds Jake Field while he was living in London England. They pitched the song to me and I was hooked! what track! Being from Alberta Canada it made perfect sense to me. So we went for it and I am so pumped that we did.

What inspired you to write this release?

This release was inspired by the beauty of our province and the sadness of being across the world missing home and the magic of being home. I am so fortunate to be a part of such a beautiful homage to where I call home.

Describe the writing and recording process

Recording this track was so cool! Scotty did the bass in his Red Deer studio and I did the vocals in my studio also in Red Deer Alberta. The drums and guitars were recorded in London England and then we sent the track to get mixed and mastered in Los Angeles California. So much love and heart went into this one from all over the world.

Any plans to release a video?

Any plans to hit the road?

Since the release of the last few tracks, things have been blowing up online. Spotify has grown to over 20k monthly listeners and streams are growing every day. It’s quite surreal. A tour was a must but how during COVID? Virtual! That’s how stopping at the top 5 monthly listener cities using Spotify as the hub to make it all happen. October 9 & 10 we will hit 5 cities! Chicago, Buffalo, Frankfurt am Main, Dallas, and New York! Pretty wild to see the growth in those locations.

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

For me, it’s really about just sharing a part of myself. I live music every day so it’s quite simple. Just be me. Be kind, and compassionate. Above all else, ALWAYS give everything like it might be the last time you get the chance. Leave it all out there. No holding back. That will equal genuine authenticity and that’s what fans connect with.

Who have you been listening to lately?

Lol, I love Post Malone and Matt Mays. So those two are always on the playlist haha.

Who are your biggest influences?

As a kid, my old man would have the Hendrix records cranked and that always stuck with me. by the time I came into my own Guns N Roses and Jerry Lee Lewis were really huge for me.

Tell us about your passions

I love connecting with the community at home and wherever we are on the road. I am very passionate about giving back and contributing to some sort of change (even if it’s a small one) for the better. I love skateboarding even tho I suck at it and I love to cook! If you know me tho, you know one of my biggest passions is Seinfeld. It’s almost more like an obsession haha, I love that show.

What else is happening next in your world?

I’m a father and a husband so that is always a priority. I am truly blessed to have such a great family life even if it wasn’t easy getting to that point. I am constantly recording and working on new music for myself and producing with others. I am also very involved in Stand Up Comedy. Lol not as a comedian but as an industry producer/promoter.
