Tell us about yourself and your music
I’m misunderstood. I’m wise beyond my years I’m humble I’m genuine & I’m true to myself.
I feel like that helps me create music I find that it’s easier to express myself thru my music. I have a certain madness to my methods I try to also keep the essence of my music raw & rugged. I have a vision I feel like stands out so I paint pictures with my words.
Talk to us more about your latest release
Well, I released my sophomore album “The Nappy Headed Shadow” on June 19th in honor of Juneteenth. I represent my people to the fullest the album is ill just like my surroundings I had a huge part in the production of this project with the help of my brother slum Chronic he’s the leader of the collective I’m apart of. When you hear this album you hear the growth from me as an artist as well as a person.
What inspired you to write this release?
Wu-tang clan plays a huge role as inspiration with my music. RZA is my hero he inspired me on so many levels to just take control of what I believe in as well as the kind of music I wanna put out. My favorite artist of all time is method man. His style & lyrics also inspired this release. I just felt like I had something to prove & I wanted to share my vision with the world because I feel like thru art & music I can get my message out to the masses to people who could relate. The name came about because I feel like a shadow in this crazy world. The nappy part comes from my hair obviously which is all-natural & me sticking to my roots so I decided to go with “The Nappy Headed Shadow”
Describe the writing and recording process
Well, I took it back old school with the recording process. I wrote my rhymes in my notebook to get that raw essence & vibe. When I record a song I listen to the beat for about 15-20 minutes then I take about 30-45 minutes to write something to it. I’ll take a solid hour to record the song & then I listen over n over again to hear every little piece of the record to see if I can go back & pronunciation words better or record something over. Once I get that natural vibe of the song then I run with it.

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
I keep it raw! I keep it genuine & organic I’m a true 90s kid & still listen to it to this day. But honestly, I’m true to myself I don’t rap about a life I don’t live I’m more of a visionary & creative when it comes to my type of art.
Who have you been listening to lately?
Wu-tang clan HEAVY. A lot of old school music a lot of bob Marley a lot of Lo-Fi black music as well. I love all genres.
