Tell us about yourself and your music
First of all, I would like to thank you for this second call to be your guest. It is a great honor for me to be featured in your magazine for the second time. So much has happened since our last interview. A couple of new songs were released, I was awarded from music Academia from Los Angeles (2019 Executive Award for Dance/Electro genre). It is also a nomination for the “IMA” Award NY, where I debated with a new song that I worked with a beautiful female vocal “Nelly Al Mahmud”. Unfortunately, we only came to a nomination, but it is one of the success I’m proud of. And there is a lot more, as you know, something always happens in the music world.
Talk to us more about your latest release
As I told you, it’s the song I performed for the nomination for “IMA” Award NY, in collaboration with “Nelly Al Mahmud”. The song is called “Seek and Hide”. What I did with joint forces with Nelly who sang a song, Bojan who worked on the arrangement, and with the lady mama who worked the text. I must say that we are all very satisfied that the entire project was finally released, and we have only positive comments from all sides, which is very pleased with us and gives us satisfaction for further strength and hard work.
What inspired you to write this release?
Well, it would now be a question for all of us who participated in the creation of this song (Marc Stan & Nelly Al Mahmud – Seek and Hide), and I believe that each of them would have a special feeling and emotion. Because when you write music or text, there must be some kind of emotion that guides you. Because I honestly think that all the melodies, or notes, or the text that is written without any emotion, have no real weight, and there is no such feeling that should be awakened by the listeners.
Describe the writing and recording process
Well, it’s a very complex process that does not just require you to sit in a studio and that’s it. There must be plenty of things to fit, and the most important thing is that I want every song I do have her soul, her story. I can not describe this, it comes out of me while I’m working on that song. As far as the recording process is concerned, it is a purely mechanical process, there is a channel mixer, effects, master.
Any plans to hit the road?
Well, I’m always on the road. It’s a life that requires a lot of renunciation, but it gives me great satisfaction. I’m often in clubs. Sometimes and four times a week. And in the meantime, I try to be in the studio and work on the following tracks.
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
I always try to give my songs some personal signature that is different from others. I separate myself from the others when I’m in the club, then I show the audience what I want to present to them through my songs. At the club, on the stage, I make a connection with the audience and I always feel what they want and I always try to meet them. And by that, I am quite well known in clubs.
