Tell us about yourself and your music
I am an independent artist born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland currently residing in Atlanta, GA
I started making music at about 11. I possess many talents of art including songwriting, poetry, crafters, illustration, and clothing design. I write my own music and can be found on many platforms across the internet!
Talk to us more about your latest release
My latest release is a song about the love of my life and is called “This Time” due to be professionally available on all platforms by February.
What inspired you to write this release?
My lifes experiences inspire me to write all my music. Everything I write is a chapter of my life.
Describe the writing and recording process
I usually write poems that become songs. When I record, I am usually ready and able to record within a short time because most of my music is already written. I will have practiced it prior to my recording which makes it easier for me and my engineer. On a good day, I can write a song in 15 minutes!

Any plans to hit the road?
Not at the moment. I am a wife and a mother so my priorities are with them at this time. I am currently working on several projects so my album release dates are anticipated.
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
Everybody’s different! I don’t have to work too hard! People normally remember my music because of my soulful, raspy voice but I think it’s a matter of releasing and promoting your music aggressively. Promotion is the key to this business! If enough people hear and see you, you’re going to stand out anyway!
Who have you been listening to lately?
I listen to all the music! From Indie to R&B, to gospel.. HipHop, pop, country, and jazz! Whatever makes my head or body move!
Who are your biggest influences?
Tupac Shakur and Mary J Blige. I also follow Oprah and Beyonce
Tell us about your passions
I have a passion for the art period! I love writing, acting, and nature! But music is usually my ultimate escape.
What else is happening next in your world?
My next move will be to begin launching my clothing line “Anikahs Apparel”. In the midst, I’ll be recording and writing more music and creating more art!
