Southern CT band plowing their way into 2020
Tell us about yourself and your music
We’re Eternal Wake. We play heavy music that touches on concepts that are better left alone. Music is our therapy, so we play the chords we need to and say the words we need to.
Talk to us more about your latest release
Our latest release is “Buried” with Kyle Strang of If I Were You, it describes a relation between being physically and emotionally buried. We’ve all had a point in life where we felt lifeless. Couldn’t move and we were just stuck. That’s what Buried is about, and what a better way then having our friend Kyle on it.
What inspired you to write this release?
Our vocalist has been through a lot. “I grew up without a mom or dad, I raised myself. I had to steal bread from a gas station at 12 years old just to feed myself. Buried, is about that feeling. Sitting on the street side, not knowing where to go, 12 and scared, as if life buried me. It resembles physical and emotional pain of being buried in life.” – Anthony
Describe the writing and recording process
We always start with an instrumental. Anthony (vocalist) will relay an idea and Josh (drummer) will work off that, producing a concept so perfect that it has us all excited. The recording process is a little bit more lax, Anthony will go to Josh’s to record vocals. We double everything. Everything haha. Then we send it off to our mixing engineer which is Chris Wiseman of Currents. (Super blessed to be working with such a talented dude!)
Any plans to release a video?
Any plans to hit the road?
Our EP is our main focus as of right now. But shows are to be announced and we promise these shows are absolutely amazing!
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
We’re heavy, not overbearing type of heavy but we are. We always tell new fans the same thing, we mix Metalcore, Alternative, and aspects of Deathcore into our music. It’s an odd mix for sure! But it’s the best way to describe us. Guess you have to listen
Who have you been listening to lately?
We’ve been really stuck on Blessthefall, Saving Vice, and A Day To Remember! But what’s music if an open mind doesn’t exist!
Who are your biggest influences?
- Invent, Animate
Tell us about your passions
- Horror movies
- Video games
What else is happening next in your world?
Our upcoming EP, which is set to release early 2020. Were so excited because there’s a handful of songs that has never been heard by the public. Some angry, some sad. Either way it’s going to be beautiful!
Thanks for an awesome interview, Eternal Wake
