Risky Bidnis - A message from us on the future of music
Tell us about yourself and your music
I and my brother I grew up our entire lives together mostly and have been curating new music for over seven years. It has been quite the journey getting to where we are now. Both of us merely following a passion and love for music. Sometimes not having any plan ahead of us. Slowly as our skills developed, we started to notice sensational feedback from our peers/family consistently. We’ve always been co-artists but now we decided to combine our efforts and form a team. We are known as Risky Bisnis. Bouncing back and forth between chasing dreams and the harshes of reality, we never knew if we would pursue this lifestyle. However, it is clear to us now due to all the support that we must share our creations with the world; so that all of the countless hours of determination were not squandered and for the masses to enjoy!
Talk to us more about your latest release
Elephants Pt. 2 – @john13sie
Our music is heavily inspired by our day to day experiences living in middle/lower class America. Being relatable is a top priority to us because we strive to acquire a fan base who is loyal and feels they are understood as they deal with the complexity of the world. Real stories, real people, and of course a balance of internet culture.
What inspired you to write this release?
The list of inspirations is far too long to list here for you. If you are an artist, you know first hand how complex the creative process can get. Some songs were on a fling of creation and carelessness. Other songs were meticulously crafted over years of contemplation. What is important to remember is that the mental health of an aspiring artist tends to be all over the place and changes almost every waking second. Fortunately, if you can harness the creation that comes with such unbalance, it can translate into something awe-inspiring. Call it dumb luck or unknown genius, or whatever you’d like, but honestly, that is what we attribute nearly all of our music curation over the past seven years. Just two young adults expressing our thoughts and experiences into art.
Describe the writing and recording process
It took a long time to piece together this project. Risky Bidnis consists of two artists with different skill sets and different outlooks on several aspects of music. Our sounds weren’t always as polished as our latest releases. We bounce off of each other with insight and criticism to expand our knowledge and sharpen our skills, but not without the occasional confrontation. No one ever said it was going to be easy chasing this dream, but at the end of it all, we know without a doubt that we will forever be brothers. That fulfillment is what gives us the strength to never give up.
Any plans to hit the road?
Honestly, aside from our experiences growing up in theatre and ensemble during our high school era, the music duo sensation Risky Bidnis, have not yet performed any of our hit songs live for a crowd bigger than 5 people. Yet the continuous support from our family and peers has driven us to attempt to change that. That is why we are excited to announce that as our audience and viewership begin to grow with help from some of the music industries elite marketing strategists, we intend to begin performing live to our fan base by the year 2022! Can’t wait to see you there!
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
Teamwork. Duo. Partners. If you ask us why or how we feel confident enough to chase our dreams despite all the difficult challenges associated with such a competitive market. Our answer is simple. We began as brothers and we end as brothers. Separately, we each have talents that make us unique enough to stand out, but when we realized how much more powerful our skills were when we combined them, we decided at that point that we were a team through thick and thin. That’s why we will never fail.
Who have you been listening to lately?
Denzel Curry, Suicide Boys, Doja Cat, Sublime, Ganja White Night, Boogie T, Subtronics, The Offspring, Three-Headed Goat. These are some of the more popular artists we are currently listening to, we are big on music appreciation and it does not necessarily matter to us what size audience an artist has, just that the quality and creativeness of the music is evident.
Who are your biggest influences?
First and foremost, we want to give a huge shoutout to a close friend and musician. He is a local legend where we live in Ohio and is the most underground artist we’ve ever met with very few instances of his music on the internet. He goes by Wisdom; and although it is incredibly rare to see him perform, it is clear to anyone in attendance that his message and skills are far-reaching. We had the privilege of his company and input during our recent projects and we are ever so grateful, thanks, Donnie!
We would also quickly like to shout out Bradley James Nowell, lead singer of the insanely popular ska band Sublime. Your upbeat reggae hits inspire us and your thoughtful slow jams have gotten us through several tough times in our lives. We appreciate you and hope your influence never dies. R.I.P. Bradley!
Tell us about your passions
Growing up in middle/lower class America is not easy. There are good times and there are bad times. There are achievements and there are sorrows. We strive to accomplish our dreams and along the way we are challenged by our vices. Our experiences in life shape who we are. Trophies, romances, and dreams. Drug abuse, heartbreak, and the struggles of having no money. We’ve all been there, and we want you to know that you are not alone. We all cope with reality in different ways, ours is music.
What else is happening next in your world?
Our immediate plans for the future include expanding our presence on popular social media websites, music streaming services, and just the internet in general. This gives our audience an easier experience staying current to our content and also gives a chance for new music enthusiasts all around the world to finally discover our great talent. This Includes A Website!!
- Music videos are a priority
- Traveling to discover new things
- Music equipment and updated electronics
Live performance is a huge goal for us that we want to do right. You know, still profitable for everyone, but also super fun and entertaining for our biggest fans. I truly believe we can make an awesome performance. I can picture it already! Be warned, our music is not enjoyed by everyone. Much of it is explicit and intended for adults, but I know that’s not going to stop most of you from tuning in; I know who the real fans are. I know who would break their necks on our dubstep beat, or sing every word to a hip hop banger. I can’t thank everyone enough for sticking with us through our journey! And much more to come, I can’t wait!
Thanks for an awesome interview, Risky Bidnis
