Patlang’s Experience

Patlang’s Experience

Tell us about yourself and your music

I started recording for the first time on a 4 track 30 years ago. Lost a lot of good tracks, because of the old tapes falling apart. I have spent a couple of years doing bar gigs, parties and festivals. Playing covers. From rock ,blues, folk , country and many more. But I always had a passion for recording. Some of my friends had their own home studio set up. I loved going to. So I decided to set up a home studio in my basement. And the inspiration started flowing. Now I would like to get my music out there. You will hear songs with various artists and some by myself.

Talk to us more about your latest release

Well I just put out two instrumental songs. one is Bateria and the other is Long Dream.

What inspired you to write this release?

I have t feeling that it’s going to be a good year. already been very busy in the studio. I am presently working on 10 songs. I also have a couple for recording dates set up with new and old musicians, to lay down some tracks.

Describe the writing and recording process

Most of the time I will start with a drum track or a drummer. and get a feel for the beat and start building a cord progression. or sometimes I will sit with my acoustic guitar.

the Lyrics come later or I invite a singer to come in.

Any plans to hit the road?

not at the present time. there is a lot of work to be done in the studio. but if the opportunity is there, I could whip up a band to play the material pretty quick.

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

I want to put out music of all genres. and still be my self in them. because some people have told me that they can tell when it’s one of mine.

Who have you been listening to lately?

Tell us about your passions

when I first started playing guitar at the age of 17, I knew that was it. I would fall a sleep playing ang wake up a couple of hours later with my guitar still in my hands and start play all over again. when I first moved in with my girlfriend. in apartment we would rent, we would get the extra room so that I could have my jam room.then we bouth a house with a basement. the jam room evolved into a studio. thru the years I have played in a couple of bands. played pretty much every bar in the area. it’s a great feeling to be on stage.
