Tell us about yourself and your music
I love to write music and sing. I have been a singer in a band back in the High School years. After the war in Vietnam, my first job was as a singer at a club in Pasadena. Called the Chalon Night Club. French Restaurant during the day best night club at night. I sang there for 10 years and got married to put my music on hold as I wanted to raise a family not to be on the road. I became a Chemist and still am for Glare Products. I also sang on a Karaoke app for 5 years only to have my 2000 fans there beg me to go back and sing Pro. I followed their advice which was not hard to do and came out with my first release “Hot-Lava” This was in October 2018. The reason my fans wanted me to write music again is they were sick of a bad rap, bad words, etc. No Rap is Ok, they were just sick of the bad language in certain Rap songs and craved the old-style Blues, Rock-N-Role type genre. I promised them I would return with just that. Blues Rock, Country, and Folk. All my songs are about my life experience and wisdom through the years. These songs are alive with real meaning. Since then I have written and arranged 40 tracks. Now back full force.
Talk to us more about your latest release
My newest Track “Salted Heart” is a huge success. Tells the story of a woman who has been burned out by men that left with very little trust for any new relationships that come her way. Salted heart the meaning is a bitter, burned, and trampled heart where all trust is vague. This song portrays true life events that may have happened to us. All the tracks I write are stories with solid endings. I love “Salted Heart,” it tells the story correctly.
What inspired you to write this release?
I try to think of a good track people can be related to. This is one genre of a burned-out heart I never made a track on this subject. I always pray before I write so God may steer me in the right direction. God has been number one in my life. That is another story one day I will tell.
Describe the writing and recording process
I take my time to write my music and as stated I always pray before I write so God may guide me. I owe God all my talents that he gave. I will normally write the lyrics maybe 10 times until it blends with the music. I have a recording studio where I do all my singing and editing of my tracks which is located in my home. Sometimes I am so inspired I can write two tracks in one week. Some times it takes a month. I think all artists go through this phase of writing.
Any plans to hit the road?
No. not right now. Shortly that will happen. I think around 2022 I will endeavor this adventure. In the meantime, I want to give the young people Great music with meaning like the 50s, 60s, etc that they crave. If I can reach this goal I am happy. It is not about money, but the love of music.
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
Yes, that is a great question. I brand myself an old style of music that has been lost. I am one of them out there that grew up in the times of Elvis, Roy Orbison, Joan Baez, Eric Burdon, Dean Martin, etc. These named artists are an icon to the golden days and my mission is to bring back that kind of music all-new but an old-style that young people crave and listen even today to these artists wishing that music can come back. I know. Why? Because these are the same young people that inspired me and begged me to make a comeback.
Who have you been listening to lately?
Cesaria Evora, Eric Burdon, Michael Bubl’e, Dean Martin, Elvis Presley, Joan Baez. Frank Sinatra Paul Anka, Many others. As you can see mostly the well-known Icons of yesteryear!
Who are your biggest influences?
I would have to say, Elvis Presley, Joan Baez, Dean Martin and Roy Orbison including Paul Anka
Tell us about your passions
My passion is helping others succeed and motivate them to their goals. I love my family and going on trips with them to various countries learning about different cultures. Singing of course is my biggest passion of all. To make a track, tell a story to the world on how you think and feel is so enlightening and rewarding.
What else is happening next in your world?
Right now I am trying to come out with more music of different genres that I have not done before. In the meantime, I am working as a Chemist which also takes up a lot of my time. My anniversary is coming up this June 4, 2020. I will be married 44 years to the best women, not just beautiful, but beautiful outside, just as beautiful inside. Most of my songs are about here except a few. Salted Heart is not one of them. LOL
