Tell us about yourself and your music
I am 27 years old. I grew up in the foster care system a few years after my dad was killed. I started doing music in California just making beats. 2 years ago I began writing lyrics and recording. found out I had a talent and began taking music seriously.
Talk to us more about your latest release
my newest release to me is pretty much the icing on the cake when it comes to showing how far I have come as an artist. I put all my skills to the test. I wanted to prove on this track that I’m not only just a rapper but a true artist. From the hook to the video concept, I brought everything to life with just my ideas.
What inspired you to write this release?
My first time hearing the beat I was feeling it heavy. I came up with my verse and instantly was like “yea this finna be a hit”. I freestyled the hook to my cousin and he told me the same thing. I called my music manager and he told me his other artist wants to collaborate with me on a song. I heard his music and knew we were going to make something happen with the song I got lined up.
Describe the writing and recording process
I flew out to Arizona to meet up with my music manager and Q. We went out to the olive garden and discussed over what we were going to do as far as the layout of the song and video. Soon after we went to the studio. by the time we were done it was already stuck in everyone’s heads. that’s when I hit up my cameraman Mido. He literally got off the plane from his vacation in Cancun and drove down to AZ to shoot the video. it was crazy how everything fell into place.
Any plans to release a video?
Any plans to hit the road?
I have a live performance in Des Moines, IA October 31st at the Karma Ultra Lounge.
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
I brand myself by going out and talking to people, while also creating my own memes and other content for my brand. Consistency is really how my music stands out the most. I literally started from nothing and each song got better and better.
Who have you been listening to lately?
I have been listing to a bit of everybody lately. a lot of artists coming out with some fire music.
Who are your biggest influences?
Nipsey Hussle
Mac dre & J diggz
J Stalin
Gucci
Tell us about your passions
I really have a passion for music outside of rapping. I played 5 different instruments. I also have a passion for football. Being as skinny as I am, I’m actually hella good at it.
What else is happening next in your world?
Big Plays !!! You just got to stay tapped in.
