Tell us about yourself and your music

My name is Augustine Kiawu, born and raised in West Africa Liberia. Came to the United States of America at the age of 16yrs, i lived in Maryland silver springs for 1yr. Then moved to nensalem, Pennsylvania on January 1, 2003, where I met a couple of African rappers in high school. After a freestyle session during lunchtime, i was given the name Lyrics. And that was the beginning of my journey, I quickly started to get in the studio recording multiple of songs and being feature on the well known African rapper in my neighborhood song to give me a push and attention in the community.

Talk to us more about your latest release

ONLY YOU, is a song that’s very important to me. A song that tells people about my life transition from the streets to God. A song that gives listeners an idea about my struggle with law enforcement and the burden that was laid upon me through charges. A crime that carry a 40yrs charged, a crime that was so heavy enough to put me away in jail for the rest of my life for a crime that I didn’t commit. But because of the lifestyle I was living, the devil took advantage of it and try to destroy me from accomplishing my God’s plans. But God who is so merciful, extended his grace and mercy to me to deliver me from Satan evil plans for God’s glory. So this song is very important to me, this is my testimony.

What inspired you to write this release?

It’s not really what inspired me, but who inspired me?. I was inspired by the holy spirit of God, this song was given to me by God. When I first created the instrumental for this song, the idea came to me right on the spot before I got done mixing the song. The idea to write a song about my transformation from the street to God. How God’s grace was there to save me even though I didn’t deserved it. His grace is another inspiration to this song.

Describe the writing and recording process

The writing process was easy, though it was very interesting. I didn’t finish writing this song in one day or a week like other songs. Sometime I will write a song in 30 minutes or an hour or a day. But this song was different, and it was different from the rest because God wanted to speak to people through me in this song. To tell people that, he is God and he is loving and caring. And he is always there for his creations and his arm is stretched out still to deliver His children from the devil’s plans and into His glorious light only if we will heed to his ways, obey his voice and trust in him.

my passion for God can’t really be described in words, because i don’t know if there are any words out there to really describe how deeply my passion for God is. and doing his work for his Wills to prevail in my life for his glory. But in short, I will say this. For God, I’m willing to lose all including my happiness, joy, family, reputation, and my life. As long as it brings glory to him.
