Tell us about yourself and your music
Hi! My name is Levi Abney. I’m a country boy that lives on Lookout Mountain in Fort Payne, Al. I’ve been a country music fan all my life inspired by greats such as Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty, George Jones, etc.. I began singing publically at age 15, then began writing songs and soon after self-taught myself guitar.
Talk to us more about your latest release
My most recent release is titled “Country to His Soul”. It’s been aired on several radio stations and had amazing feedback. It was written by me in 2010 and once I was satisfied with the melody I decided to release it only to be shocked by public reactions. It’s available to be heard on Reverbnation, Spotify, Amazon Music, iTunes, Pandora and also on my website Www.LeviAbneyMusic.com.
What inspired you to write this release?
The song “Country to His Soul” came to me rather abruptly one afternoon while listening to some of my favorite artists. I had a desire to write a song that was a true country but also had enough soul and emotion to catch the interest of anyone that heard it regardless of their genre preference. I began writing and within an hour’s time I had completely written this song. The next few years after I’d return to it off and on trying to work out a melody that I felt granted the lyric’s true heartfelt delivery. Finally, one day I was totally satisfied with what it had become and decided to release it, and I’ve not been the slightest bit disappointed.
Describe the writing and recording process
Writing songs to me is something not to be rushed but instead carefully considered by finding a hook or an idea and building a story around it. Always keeping in mind that the lyrics should be relatable to all audiences send delivered with emotion to grab any listener’s complete attention. The recording process is very fun for me. However, it is rather a chore and does take time, but the gratification of hearing your work for the first time after completion is absolutely worth it.
Any plans to release a video?
Any plans to hit the road?
