Tell us about yourself and your music
I write songs about my own experiences, especially about love or disappointment. I also like to write to conceptualize what most people don’t want to talk about. Most of us have been through some life-shattering, or life-changing situations we would never tell anyone else about, but I like to open up and learn about mine. Then, write about it to grow from that experience. So yes, everything you hear in my music is personal, its real pain, joy, and happiness. But, I’m just getting started! As an artist, I want to say more and I will.
My process is, I think of the idea. I first write a song in my head. Before I sit down to an instrument, I know there is a particular sound I want to capture. Once I have that sound in my head I then create the music in that sound. Then come the lyrics and arrangement of the verses concerning the original idea. Walla, the song! It may sound easy, but it is not. Sometimes, it may take a whole year to write one song in my head, but I stick to the process. Because, if it doesn’t sound right, I’m not motivated to write. It is a creative process for me and it allows me to deliver great music to my fans who identify with my music and experiences.

My latest release is, Midnight Rendezvous…Introducing GMackBey. Its a collection of original songs with 3 Cover Songs, about love and love, lost. reckoning with the reality and who is out to get it. There is also great music to dance with. I hope I’ve created a little something for everybody.

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
The lyrics in GMackBey Music say the things most people don’t want to say. Nothing comes across outlandish or disrespectful, but GMackBey Music confronts current societal issues and sublimely forces you to laugh, sing, and dance with your fears. Plus, for 59 minutes you’ll clap your hands, snap your fingers, pat your feet, and smell yourself.
Who have you been listening to lately?
I try not to other music unless I’m moved to do a cover of it. I want my music fresh, exciting and so original.

Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, and Dru Hill,

My passions are making love, singing, writing music, and finding good things to eat!
