Tell us about yourself and your music
My name is Cedric, and I’m from New Orleans. La. I’m 26 years old and even though I’m just starting to publicly release my music, I have been working on my craft for the past decade. I enjoy creating music because it brings me a sense of peace. With all that’s going on in the world and my personal life I know that music can always help me get through the day. I made my first project freshman year of college. It was titled “Thanks4Nothing” and it was honestly a tape dedicated to my Ex girlfriend at the time. After that I was off and on in the studio never really could put my all into it because of school. In 2017 I graduated and for a while I sat around thinking what I want to do in life then it hit me. I just want to be an Artist, not necessarily a rapper because even though I’m mainly making rap songs i aspire to create music in any genre that I choose. I know my music is different then whats out right now. I don’t consider myself a mumble rapper, and I don’t rap about the same things on nor have the same flows on each song. I write about my life and what I been through. Also other people or situations can inspire to write a song and it can be very relatable. As I start my career I have goals of not wanting to be Drake or Jay Z rather just being able to travel and perform to those who truly appreciate my msuic.
Talk to us more about your latest release
Now On February 29th I released a song called “Going Public”. This song is kind of my statement song to let the world know that I’m officially in the Rap Game. I’ll have a press release together shortly thanks to you all here at Artist Pr. Appreciate that. Also coming soon Early April I’ll be releasing my first Ep called “I’m The One”. It’s a 4 joint tape that i choose personally from my collection of songs I have ready to release. I want to show the world that im the one that missing from the game, and this should do it. Furthermore expect to hear at least one new song each month for this entire year. A few visuals are in the works as well with the likeliness of another Ep and one Album dropping before the year is out.
What inspired you to write this release?
Well I try to write songs with a message , and this particularly song it was on my heart to make a song that’s pretty much me saying okay I been doing this for a long time far as rapping and making songs but I never took it serious. But now I am and I want other people to take me serious as well.
Describe the writing and recording process
Haha really it may sound weird but I don’t write to often. Not to say it’s all from the dome, but I rather take my Ipad and turn on my voice memos and a beat and go from there. If I’m not at the studio working on a song I’m usually by myself in my car working on something. I’ll just continue repeating what I want to record and about time I finish making the verse I have already memorized it. When I go to the studio now to record It’s just natural to me. At first I use to be nervous always messing up having to start over only to end up not liking the sound. Now I go in there ready for verses, highlights, adlibs whatever i need to make my song complete. My producer is a close friend of mine’s. Met him about 5 years ago on the music tip, but was still cool even when I decided to take a break from the music. Now were back collaborating and there are other friends of mine that work with us and were getting ready to be named the New Cash Money from New Orleans. I know it’s a reach but I know my guys all have what it takes it’s that one phone call were waiting for.
Any plans to release a video?
Any plans to hit the road?
At the moment sadly i dont have any concert dates but hopefully soon ill be able to make announcements about shows and possible tour dates in the near future.
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
Cant really say I fully branded myself yet. As a new artist I have a feeling of the route i want to take but right now I’m just getting started so not much content is out there.
Who have you been listening to lately?
Lately I been listening to mainly myself. Not to sound arrogant or conceited but I just rather listen to myself to see how I can improve my lyrics deliver flow etc… Other than me, I’m probably listening to whatever is hot or new just to see what people are raving over but to be honest its just not the same anymore. Maybe its just the younger generation is taking over the mainstream, but overall whatever there doing to me and I’m sure a lot others is not real rap.
Who are your biggest influences?
Being from New Orleans of course my biggest influence is Lil Wayne. He also introduced to me one of my other influences Drizzy. I don’t really listen to many others. Artist like J.Cole, Young Thug, and Mac Miller be in rotation. Other than those, whatever I guess you can say “Hot” that’s like a new lil hit I might listen to it if I like it.
Tell us about your passions
I’m a Scorpio, so I’m passionate about anything I set my heart to. Growing up like a typical boy I loved playing sports up to high school. Video games will always be a thing for me. I’m am part of the generation that really grew up with them. Most of all music is my ultimate passion. Rather it’s making my own or just listening to it, music is like a drug and I need it to get through my day.
What else is happening next in your world?
Well for now I’m continuing making music. I’m going to be shooting visuals soon, first will be for my latest single Going Public. Haven’t Done many features but that doesn’t bother me when the time comes it’ll happen. Also shows! Definitely shows! I said I’m going public so I have to put myself out there to let people get familiar with my work and I.
