Tell us about yourself and your music
Hmm…. in a general sense, I love people and life and mostly give the benefit of the doubt and focus on the bright side of things while knowing that the opposite exists as well, it just feels better to me to focus in that way as I get the benefit of the improved feeling. With regard to my music, I tend to write songs to music that elicits a visceral response in me, you know how when a chord just feels right? and you are like yeah! that’s it. having said that my music will have a range of moods as my response to life is exactly that…. it depends
Talk to us more about your latest release
My latest release is called ” Spade”. The song is about staying in the game, whatever your game or hussle may be, alternatively, staying in the game can mean switching your game up if it is not working as intended. In the card game called “spades”, if your hand does not include the suit that is being played, you can always throw a spade to stay in the game.
What inspired you to write this release?
I am really inspired by everything around me as, I am here in life and am taking in so much information all of the time from my experiences and have to make a decision based on my perception of what I believe is happening, sometime I am correct, other times I am not but, in either case, the song reflects, in a general sense, my thoughts about whatever it is that I am considering at the moment, whether it be a memory, a present situation, or something in my imagination.
Describe the writing and recording process
Typically, when I am writing a song from a lyrical standpoint I will think of a situation, maybe something that I have experience for example and, attempt to convey verbally how I felt as I went through it. My recording process is pretty straight forward, just get a good clean sound with good levels and a good feel and add a little of this and a little of that and there you have it….”magic” I like to keep things simple.
Any plans to release a video?
Any plans to hit the road?
I am prepared to hit the road, however, no dates yet.
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
I stay true to who I am and my perspective. I know what type of sound that moves me and in that way I am unique, after all, we are all unique in that way, as no one else can look through my eyes or stand where I stand and see it from where I am but me.
Who have you been listening to lately?
Lately, I have been listening to a lot of female artists like Jhene Aiko, SZA, H.E.R, Snoh Allegra, there is something about the female vibes
Who are your biggest influences?
My biggest influences are my family, friends, and the people that I work with on a regular basis; I often acknowledge their opinions regarding my opinion but, when it is all said and done it is the big picture and how closely my or their opinion align with my objectives that ultimately determine my decision. I like to get in where I fit in.
Tell us about your passions
My ultimate passion is being happy and feeling good, and when I am not, for whatever reason, I take time to bring my self back to a better feeling place. I like feeling good. Making music feels good, helping my family and friend feels good, and; working with other amazing artist feels good.
What else is happening next in your world?
I am continuing to release more music, increase exposure to my music, and making moves to take my brand and business to the next level, I am really excited about the possibilities…….I like thinking about that
